DeSantis Praises Amazon's Florida Distribution Center

After it was announced that Amazon would not set up a headquarters in New York, Governor Ron DeSantis (R) was among the top lawmakers arguing that the sunshine state would be a great place for Amazon to set up the business.

Though Amazon eventually settled on setting up shop in the Big Apple, it was recently announced that the company would be expanding in Florida.

Taking to Twitter to congratulate the company on the move, Governor DeSantis congratulated Amazon “on its newest distribution center in Florida.”

He added that “this $100 million investment will create 500 jobs for the community and is great news for Volusia County.”

As well, the Governor informed that “Florida continues to be the best state in the nation to start or grow a business.”

Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon's Vice President of global customer fulfillment, announced that the company looks forward to continuing their "investment in Florida" to "further expand our presence in the state with this new fulfillment center in Deltona." She noted that "since 2013, Amazon has invested more than $5 billion in Florida through local fulfillment centers and cloud infrastructure, research facilities, and compensation to thousands of employees in the state."

Since being elected, the Governor has focused on the sunshine state’s economic growth, and he has been involved in national conversations regarding the state’s commitment to other ventures.

Another conversation the Governor has been vocal in is the conversation to establish the U.S. Space Force’s Command HQ in the state of Florida.
