Trump ally Ted Yoho term-limited himself, expected to retire in 2020

During the 2012 presidential election cycle, one of the most compelling, let alone one of the funniest, congressional campaign videos that aired was Ted Yoho’s “pigs” video that depicted three career politicians frolicking around in the mud and ‘hogging’ it up.

Yoho narrated the video, calling out his then-Republican primary rival 24-year Congressman Cliff Stearns by outlining that he was part of the ‘mess’ in Washington that had raised the debt ceiling 9 times.

“Career politicians are like pigs feeding at the trough,” said Yoho

The pro-Agriculture and pro-Business Yoho, who is one of President Donald Trump’s go-to legislators in the U.S. House of Representatives, also said that he would only serve 4 two-year terms in congress.

Yoho stated that “After eight years in Washington, I’ll come home.”

Because Yoho, who is perceived as being a very trustworthy and truthful House Republican, stated that he would leave after 4 terms, his congressional seat is expected to open up in 2020 and has already pressed several individuals to announced their intentions to run for his congressional seat.

With the House being all-but completely involved with the impeachment inquiry, Yoho, along with Reps. Matt Gaetz (R), Michael Waltz (R), and few Florida GOP congressmen have been lighting up social media with their unabated opposition against the inquiry President Trump likes to call a “witch hunt.”

Yoho hasn’t made the official announcement, yet, but has told numerous individuals in Washington and in this congressional district that he would not be seeking reelection in the 2020 election cycle.

Businesswoman Amy Pope Wells and businessman Judson Sapp, both Republicans,  have already officially announced their candidacies in Yoho’s district, leaving many to speculate that Yoho could be close to announcing his retirement from Congress.

Sapp recently told the Floridian that the inquiry into Trump was just “a ridiculous attempt to remove a sitting president from power” and that he felt the president was “completely innocent.”

Army National Guard Officer Gavin Rollins could make a late entry into the race, but his candidacy could be predicated on what Yoho does.
