House Democrat continues her tough anti-Trump position

Share

Freshman Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) is considered by many to be “ bien arrecha” (Spanish slang for not mincing her words, acting tough) with her approach of calling out President Trump and his administration for what he believes are improprieties

Mucarsel-Powell, who has advocated for impeachment, unloaded this week (again) against Trump and his allies in Congress, saying, among other things,  that it was “time the American people know the truth” about Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

When Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) told reporters that “the whistleblower statute was never meant” to give anyone “anonymity,” Mucarsel-Powell quipped at Graham,  tweeting that it was “the LAW to protect” the whistleblower’s identity and that  both Graham and President Trump should be informed that no one is above the law, not even this president.

Well, “this president” has been pushing back against what seems to be an unfair inquiry process being conducted by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Chairman Adam Schiff. Several Trump administration officials have already refused to speak to Schiff and his team, just as Schiff announced the first batch of open hearings in the House Judiciary Committee.

With impeachment on their mind, House Democrats believe they have momentum on their side going into 2o20 after winning the majority in the Virginia state legislature and the governor’s mansion in Kentucky by running on healthcare and against Trump.

Mucarsel-Powell has been focusing on healthcare, specifically expanding and improving the existing and embattled Affordable Care Act law, and has even pushed back against her fellow progressives by saying the Americans were not ready for the Medicare for All measure.
