Dunn condemns impeachment inquiry, calls it "un-American"

With President Donald Trump refusing to cooperate with House Democrats and their call for an impeachment inquiry, congressional Democrats are saying that this is just one more piece of evidence that the president is more than willing to obstruct justice.

House Republican Rep. Neal Dunn, like many other Republicans, has come to the president’s defense, calling Speaker Pelosi’s inquiry “un-American” goes against the U.S. Constitution,” condemning the speaker’s “impeachment by decree.”

“It’s unconscionable that Speaker Pelosi is arbitrarily choosing to impeach the President w/o holding a single vote to do so,” stated Dunn “It’s un-American and flies in the face of the Constitution. I fully support President Trump’s decision and condemn Nancy Pelosi’s "impeachment by decree.”

Dunn continued, saying that Pelosi’s “partisan impeachment proceedings are a farce and an effort to overturn the 2016 election,” adding that Democrats “will continue to stand in the way of Congress getting anything meaningful done for the foreseeable future.”

In the only three presidential impeachment proceedings, all three were incidents that were started by a floor vote in the House.

Republicans are demanding Speaker Pelosi call for a House vote, but it appears as if Democratic leadership is waiting to see if they can garner more ‘yes’ votes in the House before actually calling for a vote.

President Trump himself is on record of saying that he would participate in the impeachment inquiry once an actual impeachment vote is taken.

The White House’s letter to Speaker Pelosi states that “Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate in it."

Pelosi addressed The White House, calling their letter as simply being an “unlawful attempt to hide the facts” of what the administration did to pressure Ukraine into probing Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

"This letter is manifestly wrong, and is simply another unlawful attempt to hide the facts of the Trump Administration's brazen efforts to pressure foreign powers to intervene in the 2020 elections," Pelosi wrote in her statement. "Despite the White House's stonewalling, we see a growing body of evidence that shows that President Trump abused his office and violated his oath to 'protect, preserve and defend the Constitution.'- Speaker Pelosi

Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) is echoing what many of her Democratic colleagues have been saying, stating that President Trump was “stonewalling Congress and obstructing the American people from keeping him accountable.”
