DeSantis to return $50K donation from arrested businessmen

Share

The two arrested south Florida businessmen who set up a phony shell company in an attempt to bring in foreign money to influence American elections, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, will soon see the$50,000 they donated to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) returned back to them.

They will need it to mount a legal defense.

According to the Tampa Bay Times Parnas and Fruman “gave DeSantis $50,000 through a company called Global Energy Producers. They made the contribution one day before Trump endorsed DeSantis for Florida governor.”

“The allegations regarding Global Energy Producers to the governor’s affiliated political action committee in 2018 are troubling,” DeSantis spokeswoman Helen Ferré wrote in an email Thursday. “Therefore, Governor DeSantis is directing the political action committee to return the money to the federal government.”

Before they were arrested at Dulles International Airport in Virginia, Parnas and Fruman took in third party funding to make donations to federal PAC’s.
