2020 Election

Warren surges past Biden in new poll

Share

In the latest Qunnipiac poll, dated between September 19 and the 23rd, shows Elizabeth Warren (D, MA) has a slight edge over former Vice President Joe Biden for the first time in the bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.  Warren now has 27 percent of the vote of Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic, while Biden gets 25 percent.

This is the first time, since March, another candidate has taken the numerical lead in the primary.  It looks like Joe Biden is struggling to stay atop while Elizabeth Warren's surge is undeniable.

‘We’re not going to solve the urgent problems that we face with small ideas and spinelessness. We’re going to solve them by being the Democratic Party of big, structural change,’ - Elizabeth Warren

Warren's largest gains came in the form of white voters with a college degree. Following the top two candidates in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont was polling at 16 percent, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 7 percent, and California Senator Kamala Harris at 3 percent.   No other candidate in the primary tops 2%.
