Rick Scott demands "Medicare for All" get priced out

Share

Congressional Democrats and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate are betting the house on their proposed “Medicare For All” legislature, the healthcare measure that President Donald Trump and Republicans call “Socialist.

Republicans say that “Medicare For All” is unaffordable, but until the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score either the House or Senate versions, the true cost of the measure will not be known.

Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) sent the CBO a blistering letter questioning why after repeated requests from Republican legislators, has that supposed bipartisan government office refused to score the two “Socialist Democrat” versions of Medicare For All.

“On multiple occasions, Republicans have requested a score from the Congressional Budget Office of the Socialist Democrats’ Medicare for All proposal, especially Budget Committee Ranking Member Bernie Sanders’ bill filed in the Senate this year,” said Scott “So far, the CBO has refused. It is irresponsible and unconscionable that the CBO refuses to tell us the price tag for a healthcare proposal that has become the centerpiece of the Democrats’ agenda, both in Congress and in their presidential campaigns.

Scott also stated that the CBO needed to do their job because “the American people deserve to know how much this proposal would cost, and how much taxes would be raised.”

“It’s going to cost over $3.4 trillion dollars a year just to fund Medicare. $3.4 trillion a year. That is twice the entire federal budget save interest on the debt. So how do you do that without raising taxes? There’s not enough taxes to cut — eliminate tax breaks for the wealthy — there’s not enough out there to get you there!”- VP Joe Biden on Medicare for All (Source)
