With the northern Bahamas having been all-but annihilated by Hurricane Dorian, there is some 2350 Urban search and rescue personnel spread around the state of Florida ready to jump into action and assist once they get the green light.
Appearing via telephone on The Weather Channel on Tuesday, Florida Fire Marshall Jimmy Patronis said that because both Task Force 1 & 2 are “federal FEMA task forces” and created to deploy at a moment’s notice.
Patronis said that his office was on “stand by” and that upon “authorization from the president, we’ll move them (FEMA Task Forces 1 & 2) forward into The Bahamas.”
Patronis also said that the Urban Rescue group was working with the Florida National Guard to make sure all preparations for a Florida landfall were met.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has already called on the Florida Air and National Guard to assist with Hurricane Dorian efforts.
State Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R), who is also in the Florida National Guard, is currently deployed with the 83rd Troop Command tasked with planning the movements of half of the state's activated troops.
