Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is pushing back against the recommendation by Florida Senate Special Master Dudley Goodlette to reinstate embattle former Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.
The victims with families impacted by the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School deserve justice and accountability,” said DeSantis “I disagree with the analysis contained in the non-binding recommendation; the senators will render their own independent judgment on Scott Israel.”
Goodlette, who believes that DeSantis’ attorney’ failed to prove that Israel should have been removed from his post, said that the case against Israel was weak at best.
"While the governor has offered a plethora of criticism, he has not shown that Sheriff Israel’s policies, procedures or trainings on active-shooter situations were inconsistent with Florida law enforcement standards,” Goodlette wrote.
“Floridians were appalled by Scott Israel’s repeated failures and expect their senators will provide the accountability that the Parkland families have sought for the past year and a half,” tweeted DeSantis
Israel and his entire office were questioned for their response, and lack of action during the Parkland High School shooting that left 17 students and teachers dead.
The shooting exposed the cowardice of several of Israel’s deputies.
