It has been suspected that Osama Bin Laden’s son Hamza Bin Laden (pictured in FBI profile) was killed several months ago in a “counterterrorism operation” within the Afghanistan and Pakistan tribal region.
The speculation of his has not been confirmed by President Donald Trump, who in a statement stated that “Hamza bin Laden was responsible for planning and dealing with various terrorist groups” and his death “only deprives al-Qa’ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father.”
While the death of any bin Laden is welcomed in the military and intelligence communities, the real leader of Al- Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, is still a fugitive in hiding, presumably in the same region of the world where Hamza bin Laden was killed.
Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL), a U.S. Army Green Beret reservist, believes that the U.S. needs to keep its eye on the ball, and must “remain vigilant in the War on Terror.”
“Hamza bin Laden was set to take over Al Qaeda and while this is good news, there are still Al Qaeda terrorists at large!” stated Waltz “Al Qaeda’s Number 2, Ayman al-Zawahiri is still out there. This is why it’s critical we remain vigilant in the War on Terror.”
The Trump administration did not offer any more details on how Hamza bin Laden was killed.
The details of the death of his father were highly publicized throughout the media, and eventually glamorized in the movie “Zero Dark Thirty.”
