Wasserman Schultz pushes voter fraud initiative

Share

As the 2020 Presidential election cycle is getting underway, and two Democratic candidates have already dropped out, the fight continues to ensure that the White House turns blue. To ensure that, states must first vote blue this time around, and one of those battleground states that will be under the microscope is the state of Florida.

Considering that the first round of debates took place in South Florida, Democrats are aggressively targeting the sunshine state with canvassing, and Rep. Debbie Wassmerman Schultz (D) is encouraging Democrats to play their part in making sure that there are no issues with voting.

Taking to Twitter to announce her initiative, she commented that “voter suppression happens year-round in Florida.” Because of that, she avows that it’s vital for Florida Democrats to start what is being called the “Voter Protection Hotline,” which everyone will have access to it.

Furthermore, it’s explained that “the hotline will be staffed with a mix of paid staff and trained volunteers from across the state and will work to educate voters, answer questions and ensure that all legal votes are counted.”

As well, it’s detailed that “in addition to educating voters and serving as a valuable resource to protect voter rights, the hotline will be used to identify trends in voter suppression across the state and work with local supervisors to address those before the 2020 election.”

Terrie Rizzo, the chairman of the Florida Democratic Party, added to the initiative’s goals, saying that “voters across the state have witnessed Republican efforts to suppress the vote – passing legislation that implemented a modern-day poll tax, limiting access to the ballot box on college campuses and reducing the days that Vote By Mail ballots can be mailed, are only a few of their efforts to limit legal voting in Florida.”
