As more and more migrants continue to pour over the U.S. southern border with Mexico, the U.S. Border Patrol and ICE continue to detain hundreds of illegal immigrants, including having to temporarily separate families.
The U.S. Government is constantly having to detain illegal immigrants of all shapes and colors, from all over the world, and at all points of entry into the United States.
Congressional Democrats have made the illegal immigration crisis along the border the cornerstone of their 2020 election chances, pushing the narrative that race is the reason for the detentions.
Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) has been urging the government to close all the current immigration detention centers, managing to put enough pressure on the Trump administration that It recently closed the controversial Homestead children detention center in Miami-Dade County, Florida
Mucarsel-Powell is one the congressional Democrats who are pushing the race narrative, tweeted that individuals that are considered people of “color” are “constantly having to prove legal status” to authorities.
“For many, being a person of color means constantly having to prove legal status,” said Mucarsel-Powell “It means the smallest error in forgetting your ID could get you thrown in a detention center & separated from your family.”
Mucarsel-Powell’s remark was made after the Miami Herald reported that Customs and Border Patrol officials were in South Florida boarding Greyhound buses and checking the legal immigration status of its commuters.=
The officials were camping out at the bus stations were part of a nationwide effort to “keep communities safe”
“U.S. Border Patrol has been performing enforcement actions away from the immediate border in direct support of border enforcement efforts and as a means of preventing trafficking, smuggling and other criminal organizations from exploiting our public and private transportation infrastructure to travel to the interior of the United States. ... Agents in Florida enforce immigration law while working closely with local, state and federal law enforcement partners to keep communities safe while securing the coastal borders.”-U.S. Border Patrol
