Pro-Trump Republicans have mixed feelings for Senator Marco Rubio (R) because he doesn’t completely align himself with the president, as is the case with Israel’s decision to ban Muslim-American U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar (D) and Rashida Tlaib (D).
One day he applauds and champions the Trump agenda, the next day he doesn’t.
Rubio thinks the decision to ban two “anti-Israel” and “anti-Jewish” Democratic members of Congress was a “mistake” and that by “blocking” their entry into Israel plays into their real plan, hoping that the move would “bolster their attacks against the Jewish state.”
Israeli law clearly states that the country has the right to deny entry of any foreigner or visitor who makes “public call for boycotting Israel” or any area under its control.”
Rubio’s fellow Floridian and freshman Senator Rick Scott (R), has a different opinion than his colleague, saying that he agrees with the president and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying that Israel was a sovereign nation that has “no obligation to let in any anti-Semitic” congressional member into their country.
President Trump suggested Israel ban Omar and Tlaib, calling them a “disgrace” for filing and supporting the anti-Israel BDS movement, not to mention all the past anti-Semitic remarks they have made.
Omar made Israel’s decision easy, and her response to the ban only reinforced Trump’s and Israel's case for keeping her from entering that country.
“Trump’s Muslim ban is what Israel is implementing,” Omar wrote.
Rep. Omar then went after Netanayahu, saying that he “resisted peace efforts, restricted the freedom of movement of Palestinians, limited public knowledge of the brutal realities of the occupation and aligned himself with Islamaphobes like Donald Trump.”
“The plan of the two Congresswomen is only to damage Israel and to foment against Israel,” Netanyahu said in a statement following the decision.
Case closed.
Israel is now saying that it would allow Rep. Rashida Tlaib to visit her grandmother in the West Bank.
