Trump Slams Paul Ryan, Says he "Didn't Know how to win"

Share

President Trump took to twitter this week to attack former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R). The attacks come after excerpts from a book called “American Carnage” from Tim Alberta, a Politico reporter. The book details the relationship that Reince Priebus (R) and Paul Ryan (R) had with President Trump, and it implies that Ryan saw retirement as an “escape hatch.”

Ryan is reported to have told the Washington Post that, when it came to Trump, Ryan felt that he’s “gotta have a relationship with this guy to help him get his mind right. Because I’m telling you, he didn’t know anything about government… I wanted to scold him all the time.”

In response to the released excerpts, President Trump used twitter to attack Ryan as “the failed V.P. candidate & former Speaker of the House, whose record of achievement was atrocious (except during my first two years as President).”

The President added that Ryan then “became a long running lame duck failure, leaving his Party in the lurch both as a fundraiser & leader.”

The President also cited Senator Romney’s (R) 2012 Presidential run in a tweet, saying that “when Mitt chose Paul I told people that’s the end of that Presidential run.”

Furthermore, Trump expressed that Ryan “quit Congress because he didn’t know how to Win. They gave me standing O’s in the Great State of Wisconsin, & booed him off the stage.”

Finally, in a third tweet, the President further questioned what he perceives as failed leadership, arguing that Ryan “had the Majority & blew it away with his poor leadership and bad timing. Never knew how to go after the Dems like they go after us.”

Trump asserted that he “couldn’t get him out of Congress fast enough!”

Whether Republican or Democrat, President Trump has not minced his words when it comes to his political opponents.

Romney and Ryan have not responded.
