Scott shames Democrats who support Maduro

Florida Senator Rick Scott has called out congressional Democrats for their support of Venezuelan Dictator Nicolas Maduro, whose government is now accused of killing thousands of innocent Venezuelans.

The recent bombshell United Nations investigative report outlines that Maduro’s Special Action Forces or “death squads” have killed upwards of 5,200 in 2018 and another 1,500 in 2019 during their “Operations for the Liberation of the People.”

“This is @NicolasMaduro, said Scott “This is the regime that some Democrats here defend. Maduro must be held accountable for the genocide he is carrying out on the people of #Venezuela. This report further exposes the heartbreaking situation there. The world is watching.”

Those American legislators Scott is referring to are namely Senator Bernie Sanders, and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, all self-proclaimed progressives.

Both Reps Omar and Ocasio-Cortez have refused to denounce Maduro, as has Sanders, who was once asked by Univision’s Jorge Ramos if Maduro should step down. Ramos asked Sanders for a yes or no answer, but didn’t receive it.

"I think clearly he has been very, very abusive,” Sanders replied. “That is a decision of the Venezuelan people, so I think, Jorge, there's got to be a free and fair election. But what must not happen is that the United States must not use military force and intervene again as it has done in the past in Latin America, as you recall, whether it was Chile or Brazil or the Dominican Republic or Guatemala.

Scott, who who has been relentless in his effort to shed light on the Maduro regime,  is not the only legislator denouncing Sanders.

Freshman Congresswoman Donna Shalala (D) believes that Sanders’ presidential campaign is dead on arrival, saying that “he is not going to be the nominee of the Democratic Party.”

“He is not going to be the nominee of the Democratic Party. He has demonstrated again that he does not understand this situation,” Rep. Donna Shalala told POLITICO. “I absolutely disagree with his imprecision in not saying Maduro must go.”
