The Democratic primaries this year have been, to an extent, less contentious than the Democratic primaries in the 2016 election that saw a controversial primary win from Secretary Hillary Clinton.
As former Vice President Joe Biden (D) surprisingly sinks in the polls, President Donald Trump has come out in defense of the former Vice President, in a way, saying that he would rather face him than any of the other Democrats that the party has to offer.
Both Biden and Trump have had a rivalry dating back to when President Trump announced that he would be running for office in 2016, and he’s made it clear where he stands on the Vice President.
Calling Biden a “loser,” Trump said that he was taken “off the trash heap” by former President Barack Obama.
The President also added that Biden is “a different guy” and that “he looks different than he used to.” In addition, President Trump said that Biden “acts different than he used to" and that "he’s even slower than he used to be.”
Since announcing he’d run for the nomination, the former Vice President has faced controversy of his own when several women spoke up against Biden, saying that he invaded their personal space and made them feel uncomfortable.
At the idea of facing him in the general election, President Trump commented that he would “rather run against Biden" because he's "the weakest mentally.”
Moreover, the President added that he likes “running against people who are weak mentally. I think Joe is the weakest up here. The other ones have much more energy.”
Biden is set to comment on President Trump’s recent threats to Mexico and his trade wars with both Mexico and China, but the President disregards Biden’s focus as a sign that his campaign is “failing.”
Speaking on the matter, Trump noted that he “heard his whole campaign is to hit Trump. When a man has to mention my name 76 times in a speech, that means he’s in trouble.”
