When President Trump became the first Republican president in history to acknowledge the LGBT community – telling Americans to “stand in solidarity” with the those being persecuted around the world – his detractors opened up.
Trump’s likely 2020 Democratic presidential opponent, Joe Biden, called him a “disaster for human rights” during a recent event highlighting the beginning of PRIDE month.
Trump’s tweet in support of the gay community was retweeted by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) and other loyal supporters, but Cher, who has always been one of his vocal opponents, sounded her alarm to the LGBT community.
“As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals....”-President Donald Trump
Cher tweeted that “if Trump wins” in 2020, he would “strip u of ‘ALL’ PROTECTIONS” AND “PUT U IN INTERNMENT CAMPS.”
The singer also said that Trump would stick his knife in the backs of the gay community.
Going as far back as the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump has always said that he was LGBT friendly, saying that he was better for the gay community than Hillary Clinton would be.
“Believe me, I am better for the gay community, I am better for women than [Clinton] will ever be on her best day,” he said in Raleigh, North Carolina, on July 5, 2016. “Ask yourself who is really the friend of women and the LGBT community, Donald Trump with actions or Hillary Clinton with her words?” he said in Manchester, New Hampshire, on June 13 of that same year."- BuzzFeed
