Scott presses Trump for naval blockade of Venezuela

They are friends and allies, and President Trump will need Florida Senator Rick Scott’s help to get re-elected in next year’s presidential election.

 On Wednesday afternoon, Sen. Scott hitched a ride on Air Force One to the president’s rally in Panama City, Florida, where the two discussed “issues important to Florida.”

Scott, like Trump, is frustrated that Senate Democrats continue to block disaster relief funding for hurricane ravaged Puerto Rico and the panhandle of Florida.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democrat first voted against the funding, and have now stalled funding negotiations, even as their Democratic colleagues over in the House of Representatives have urged them to come to terms with Republicans.

Scott, who has advocated for military intervention in Venezuela, told the President that he “MUST consider using naval assets” to for a similar blockade used against Cuba in 1962, to enforce sanctions and cut off the flow of oil between the two regimes.

 “The President and I had a great discussion about the issues vital to the people of Florida, particularly our Panhandle residents still struggling to recover and rebuild following Hurricane Michael. The President is committed to getting disaster relief done to help these communities.

He’s also focused on solving the crisis in Venezuela. The presence of Russia, China, Cuba, Iran and Hezbollah poses a serious national security threat to the United States and our allies in the Hemisphere.
