Rep. Amash Calls for Trump's Impeachment

Share

Michigan rep. Justin Amash (R) has joined numerous Democrats in calling for President Trump to be impeached.

Taking to twitter to voice his disapproval of the President, Amash argued that President Trump has portrayed nothing but “impeachable conduct.”

Amash also accused Attorney General William Barr of “deliberately misrepresenting” Robert Mueller and the Mueller report aside from claiming that President Trump attempted to potentially obstruct the special counsel’s investigation into possible collusion with Russia to win the 2016 Presidential election.

This, Amash says warrants impeachment by the House.

In the series of tweets, Amash says he concluded that “partisanship has eroded our system of checks and balances" and that “few members of Congress have read the report.”

Amash continued by saying that “Mueller’s report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meets the threshold of impeachment.”

Moreover, Amash expressed that “Mueller’s report identifies multiple examples of conduct satisfying all the elements of obstruction of justice, and undoubtedly any person who is not the president of the United States would be indicted based on such evidence.”

However, Amash does not provide an example of President Trump attempting to obstruct the investigation.

Barr was also a subject of criticism, and Amash pointed out that “in comparing Barr’s principal conclusions, congressional testimony, and other statements to Mueller’s report, it is clear that Barr intended to mislead the public about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s analysis and findings.”

Amash has been a frequent critic of President Trump, and he now joins several 2020 Presidential election candidates like Senator Elizabeth Warren (D) who have called for President Trump to be impeached.

When the Mueller report was submitted earlier this year, it was announced that there would be no further indictments and that the Trump administration had not colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

Since then, tension has only risen between Republicans and Democrats.
