CBS Poll Shows Americans Give Trump Credit on Economy

In a new CBS News poll concerning President Trump and the economy, Americans show that they are happy with the state of the economy, and they also attribute some of the success to President Trump.

It’s reported that 7 in 10 Americans note that the economy and their own financial situation are in good shape, and a quarter say that the economy is very good.

In addition, most Democrats and Independent voters share this view.

41% of those who said that the economy is good say that it is because of President Trump’s policies, which is a significant increase from the 32% percent at the beginning of 2018.

In addition, 41% of Americans approve of how President Trump is handling his job in the White House, and 50% of Americans approve of how the president is handling the economy. However, most Americans disapprove of how President Trump is handling foreign policy, immigration and trade issues with other countries.

This poll comes at a time when congressional Democrats are looking to begin impeachment proceedings against the President though House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) has turned down the idea of impeaching the president.

While Democrats seem to have gained an ally in Michigan rep. Justin Amash (R), the President has slammed the Republican lawmaker as a "loser" while continuing to highlight the improvements in the economy.

In a twitter post, the president commented that his "Administration is achieving things that have never been done before, including unleashing perhaps the Greatest Economy in our Country's history."

Moving forward, 56% say that they are optimistic about the stock market over the next 12 months. 37% say that the economy is getting better, 25% argue that the economy is getting worse, and 36% say that they do not notice a difference.

Americans were also asked who will win the trade war between China and the United States with 27% saying that the United States will win while 24% say that China will win.

Finally, when it comes to raising tariffs on Chinese imports and their effect on the American economy, 47% argue that it will have a negative effect while 24% say that it will have a positive effect.
