Rep. Frankel Will Chair Democratic Women's Caucus

As the upcoming 2020 Presidential election fast approaches, the dates for the first Democratic Presidential debate has been announced. At the end of last week, it was announced that the first debate would air on two consecutive nights, which would be June 26th and 27th.

The sunshine state is not only a battleground state, but it is also a state that President Trump carried in the 2016 Presidential election. It’s also a state that in the 2018 midterm election voted for Governor Ron DeSantis and Senator Rick Scott.

And, as Democrats look to regroup and take control of the Presidency and the Senate, the Presidential candidates will be heavily campaigning in the state in order to gain support.

With that being said, last week, Democratic Florida Rep. Lois Frankel was elected to serve as one of the co-chairs for the Democratic Women’s Caucus, which is a caucus made up of more than 90 congresswomen. The other congresswomen that will also serve as co-chairs will be Michigan Rep. Brenda Lawson and California Rep. Jackie Speier.

In a statement, Frankel commented on the new leadership team, saying that “with more women in Congress than ever before, the Democratic caucus has never been stronger.” She added that “the new leadership of the Democratic Women’s Caucus stands united in the common purpose of improving the lives of all families by advocating for equal pay for equal work, access to health care, paid family and medical leave, affordable, quality child care, retirement security, combating workplace harassment, and much more. Despite every effort by this administration to take us backwards, our voices remain loud as we keep fighting to push forward on women’s hard-earned rights.”

This is the second major assignment that Frankel is giving in the beginning of the year.

In January, Frankel was appointed to the U.S. House Appropriations Committee.
