Scott, Rubio push back against dumping Electoral College

The field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates is pushing an ideological agenda that many Republican and Independent voters see as “radical” and dangerous to the core of the American principles and values.

All the announced presidential candidates in the Senate, Sens. Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Corey Booker, Amy Klobuchar, and Elizabeth Warren, have fallen in line with the controversial progressive “Medicare for All” and “Green New Deal” measures.

Whomever wins over their growing base of progressive support, wins the Democratic nomination. It’s as simple as that.

During her townhall meeting in Missisippii, Sen. Elizabeth Warren echoed what many other progressives have been saying: scrap the Electoral College.

Warren received a huge ovation when stated,” we need to get rid of the Electoral College so that presidential candidates have to ask every American in every part of the country for their vote, not just those in the battle ground states.”

Hillary Clinton defeated President Trump in 2016 in the overall vote, but was crushed in the Electoral College by a 306-232 margin.

Democrats believe that if a nominee wins the majority of the vote, and not the Electoral College count, they should be president.

Florida’s two Republican Senators, Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, have both sounded off on the “silly idea” of doing away with the Electoral College.

Rubio said that college was a “work of genius by founders” because the process “makes sure interests of less populated areas aren’t ignored at the expense of densely populated areas.

Scott was more direct and to the point, saying that the only reason “Liberals” like Elizabeth Warren want to get rid” of the College is because they would “only have to campaign in New York and California” because of their massive Democratic population.

Scott added that the current Democratic Party’s “Socialist policies” would be welcomed in those two very ‘blue’ states.

Rubio and Scott make a point. In looking at the final vote count in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton garnered a little under 3 million votes more than Trump.

In just California, which Republican only make up 25% of registered voters, Clinton beat Trump by over 4 million votes.
