During his 2020 presidential bid announcement, Robert “Beto” O’Rourke outlined a host of issues he wanted to address during the campaign cycle.
One of those issues was immigration
With funding of the border wall being the top issue for President Trump and legislators in Washington, O’Rourke talked the issue head on.
O’Rourke believes that Immigration is “the best possible problem” for Americans to have, saying that “lawful paths” to come to this country for illegal immigrants should be made available, and for families to “flee persecution” from some of the repressive third world governments.
If immigration is a problem, it’s the best possible problem for this country to have, and we should ensure that there are lawful paths to work. To be with family, and to flee persecution.
O’Rourke also stated that “slavery” and “segregation, and suppression” needed to be confronted.
“Confront the hard truths of slavery, and segregation, and suppression in these United States of America.”
Is immigration “the best possible problem” that America faces?
From what currently happening along the U.S. southern border with Mexico, and the increase drug traffic coming into the country, O’Rourke could be forced to take back his immigration problem statement.
