Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) is outraged, as she should be, over the First District Court of Appeal’s questionable order refusing a request from the state of Florida to reopen or rehear an oil exploration case.
Kanter Real Estate LLC, who owns 20,000 acres about 8 miles west of the city of Miramar, Florida, applied for a permit to drill for oil in delicate Everglades.
The court earlier ordered the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to issue a permit to the real estate company, but the state has been fighting it, and has denied Kanter the permit to drill.
Not it appears as if Kanter has the green light to “Drill baby drill” in the Everglades.
Rep. Wasserman Schultz stated that court ruling was “outrageous” for “even considering oil drilling in the Everglades ecosystem,” call it “absurd.”
Wasserman Schultz and the entire Florida congressional delegation have been staunchly against offshore oil drilling, let alone drilling in the Everglades.
