Trump says Venezuela’s Maduro “willing to negotiate”

Share

President Donald Trump has just announced that Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro is willing to come to the negotiating table with the opposition party after the U.S. imposed crippling sanctions, including "cutting off" his country's oil revenues.

Just a few days ago, National Security Advisor John Bolton announced that state-run oil company, PDVSA, would have all of it's "interests" and "property" blocked. In addition, the sanctions would also prohibit any US citizen from having financial dealings with the oil company.

"I'm ready to sit down at the negotiating table with the opposition so that we can speak for the good of Venezuela -- for the world and its future." -Nicolas Maduro told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti

The U.S. along with 20 other countries have recognized Juan Guaido as the "legitimate" president of Venezuela.
