Debbie Wasserman Schultz Joins Trump Oversight Committee

Share

Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is now a member of a key House committee, and the aim of the committee is to conduct oversight of President Donald Trump and the current Republican administration. Specifically, what she explains the committee will be focusing on is the separation of children from their parents when families illegally cross the border, and problems with hurricane recovery will also be examined.

However, this comes at a time when Democrats are gearing up for a 2020 election season, but they still have unanswered questions regarding the 2018 midterm election that saw them lose high profile races across the country. In the state of Florida alone, Nikki Fried was the sole high cabinet office Democrat elected, but she’s not worried about the upcoming election season.

In a statement, Fried commented that she has “full confidence In the leadership of the Florida Democratic Party. Terrie Rizzo and her entire team have proven themselves team players and willing to do the work to win.”

In a statement regarding the new committee position, Wasserman Schultz said that her goal is to “demand swift accountability from this White House… The long neglect of meaningful House oversight on our nation’s most serious problems in recent years ends now with Democrats serving in the majority in the House.”

As it stands, Democrats have been sparring with President Trump over the government shutdown and funding that the President wants for the wall. Though there’s uncertainty about whether or not both sides of the aisle will reach an agreement, Democrats will continue battling the President as the next election cycle inches closer.

Democratic state-Senator Annette Taddeo still implies that the party needs to find answers to ensure that 2020 is a more successful year for Democrats as it pertains to candidates being elected.

Taddeo explains, “we are probably going to have the re-election of President Trump because we are not getting ready. If we don’t win Florida, we don’t win the White House.”
