Florida's population swells due to "high domestic migration"

With the population in the United States having grown .6 percent between July 1, 2017, and July 1, 2018, there is no surprise that Florida’s population continues an upward tick, surpassing New York as the third most populous state in the union a long time ago.

“Florida had the highest level of net domestic migration in the last year, at 132,602. Since 2010, Florida has gained a total of 1,160,387 people from net domestic migration.”-U.S. Census Bureau

According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau report, Florida’s population grew 1.5 percent. The report also shows that Washington, D.C.’s population also grew by the same percentage, but the states that saw the most increase in their population were Idaho and Nevada, followed by Utah with 1.9 percent and Arizona with 1.7 percent increases.

“Washington, D.C., reached a population of 702,455 in July 2018, surpassing 700,000 for the first time since 1975.”

Who would have thought that?

The big population losers were New York, West Virginia, Louisiana, Hawaii, Mississippi, Alaska, Connecticut and Wyoming. Oh, and Puerto Rico, a U.S. commonwealth, lost big (because of Hurricane Maria
