With Democrats in control of the U.S. House of Representatives, issues that Republicans may have side-stepped while in control, like climate change, will most-likely be brought to light under Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The bipartisan Climate Change Caucus in the House has pushed for more legislation to address their climate concerns, but GOP leadership placed their focus elsewhere.
That's going to change.
Congressman Ted Deutch (D) along with fellow Floridians, Reps. Charlie Crist (D) and Francis Rooney (R), have penned a bipartisan bill to tax carbon.
According to a statement on Deutch’s legislative website, the bill aims to “encourage market-driven innovation in clean energy technologies” and to “create a healthier, more stable, more prosperous nation for future generations.”
Deutch’s bill also states that the bill would create “2.1 million “net new jobs by the 10th year” and reduce “U.S. carbon emissions by 33%.”
Attached is a PDF of what Deutch's bill calls for. See below
