DeSantis, Scott win by razor thin margins

By the closest of margins, Republicans Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott won their respective senatorial and gubernatorial races on election night.

A late breaking poll showed DeSantis and Scott winning.

DeSantis prevailed over Gillum with the help of President Donald Trump, who rallied several times in the state for the former Iraq war vet and congressman.

The race between Democrat Andrew Gillum and DeSantis was marred with racist accusations against Republicans, and an FBI investigation that loomed large over Gillum’s campaign.

It was ugly.

Early in the day, DeSantis told Sean Hannity that he wished he could have done things a little differently in September, but was confident he would win at the end of the night.

DeSantis’ was accused by many conservative Republican activists of running a lackluster, “low energy” campaign.

As far as the Senate race between Scott and Nelson, Scott prevailed by getting just enough votes, but could have done better, if all Republicans supported him.

Many Republicans around the state, especially in south Florida, refrained from voting for him this election cycle, citing his past HCA healthcare scandal.

But with that said, Nelson didn’t do himself any favors by running a ghost campaign. Nelson tried his best, but it seemed as if the former senior senator was running on fumes all along.

Overall, Republicans lost 7 governor’s seats and control of the U.S. House of Representatives, but managed to gain seats in the Senate, solidifying their majority.
