With Republicans coming out of election night and recountgate with big wins around the state of Florida, Democrats are taking their modest gains in stride, and pulling for those candidates who were able to outlast their Republican opponents.
Democrats have broken up the Cuban-American congressional stronghold in Miami-Dade County, and were able to push Lobbyist Nikki Fried over the finish line in the hotly contested agriculture commission race.
Even though Fried beat Republican Rep. Matt Caldwell by the closest of margins, a win is a win, and Democrats see her as possibly being a seated counter play in the incoming DeSantis gubernatorial administration.
DeSantis’ Democratic gubernatorial opponent, Andrew Gillum, expects Friend to “hold it down” for Democrats.
What exactly that means is up to interpretation.
Will Fried pushback against DeSantis and push a progressive agenda, or will she play nice and go along to get along?
