Bill Nelson
Senator Bill Nelson has still not announced whether or not he will be voting in favor of Brett Kavanaugh, but a new progressive poll is warning that Senator Nelson will have little to gain and votes to lose should he proceed to vote in favor of Kavanaugh.
The poll was conducted by YouGov Blue on behalf of Deman Justice, and Brian Fallon, executive director of Demand Justice, stated in a news release that “The numbers show that opposing Kavanaugh is not just the right thing to do, it is also the politically smart move for Nelson’s reelection. Voters in Florida are saying they do not want a judge who would overturn protections for preexisting conditions. If Senator Nelson votes for Kavanaugh, it won’t gain him any undecided voters but it could cause a lot of his core supporters to stay home in November.”
The numbers show that 80 percent of voters said their vote would not be impacted should Nelson vote against Kavanaugh while 31 percent said that they would be less likely to vote for Nelson if he chooses to vote for Kavanaugh.
The poll consisted og around 450 likely Florida voters, and it took place from August 24th to September 1st.
