Whether or not stricter gun control should be enacted has been a prominent topic of discussion in the political arena since the deadly shooting that occurred in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February.
Three parents of children that passed away in the shooting, Patricia and Manuel Oliver and Fred Guttenberg, have released advertisements showing their support for former Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine's bid to become Florida's next Governor.
In the advertisements, the parents describe Mayor Levine as someone that will work instead of solely talking about change.
Guttenberg explains in his advertisement that "Like me, he not only demanded stronger gun laws but he marched on Tallahassee to make it happen. Levine’s a doer, not a talker. If you’re serious about protecting our children, we need him now. No parent should have to experience what I did.”
In response to the endorsements, Mayor Levine commented that "The courage and drive that these parents have shown is inspirational — this is how movements start and how change is made. I’m honored to have earned Fred, Manuel, and Patricia’s support and am committed to standing beside them as we work together to make gun reform a reality in Florida.”
