Rally for McGlockton Brings Democrats Together

Share

A rally for Markeis McGlockton is being held in Clearwater, and many Democrats are meeting up to voice their disapproval and call to repeal Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.

During an interview with Reverand Al Sharpton on MSNBC, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum commented that “The fact that you have an individual who become judge, juror and executioner all in their own minds under the protection of the law in the United States is a deep travesty of justice.”

On Saturday, Jeff Greene’s campaign and Philip Levine both announced that they would be attending the rally.

In a release from Levine’s campaign, it explained that “Mayor Levine will stand with community and state leaders and speak out against the controversial stand your ground' law.”

In addition, Greene’s campaign announced that “Greene has been an outspoken advocate of gun control during his campaign, supporting the ban of assault rifles and suggesting a buy-back for the military-grade weapons.”

In light of recent controversies involving guns and gun-rights, gun control continues to be a subject of discussion in the political arena, and many Democrats gathering at the rally will be calling for gun control.

Former congresswoman Gwen Graham and Chris King have not announced if they will be attending the rally.
