Democrats Highlight Putnam's Endorsement of Scott Pruitt

As Scott Pruitt steps down from running the EPA, Democrats are reminding everyone that Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, currently running a bid to replace term-limited sunshine state Governor Rick Scott, endorsed Scott Pruitt. In fact, Putnam wrote an op-ed about Pruitt and how he was going to be a good fit to undo Obama-era regulations.

In the op-ed, Commissioner Putnam explained that Pruitt "has the experience, understanding of the law and courage to get this out-of-control federal agency back on track." At the time and in hindsight, Republicans have attacked the regulations as being unnecessarily difficult on businesses.

Putnam went on to explain that "With Scott Pruitt in charge, we can finally unravel the mess of the EPA, and begin developing and implementing thoughtful policies that will make measurable improvements to our natural resources and unleash an energy revolution that will bring jobs and higher wages to Americans."

However, Pruitt is stepping down from heading the agency after several controversies began to pile up, which included him taking trips with first-class airline seats and other expenses that racked up. In addition, he is accused of having EPA staff do personal chores for him and having conservative companies and groups look for a job his unemployed wife could take.

Polls indicate that Adam Putnam has a healthy lead over his opponent Congressman Ron DeSantis in Florida's gubernatorial race.
