Fresh off the #Marchforourlives event this past weekend, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) has filed another gun control bill that is being perceived by the pro-gun lobby as just another push to ban all guns and ammo.

According to Rep. Wasserman Schultz, her “The Ammunition Background Check Act of 2018” would mandate that all buyers of ammunition go through the same FBI National Instant Background Check that gun purchasers must go through.

"Under current law, just as criminals, domestic abusers, and dangerously mentally ill individuals are prohibited from purchasing a firearm, they are also prohibited from purchasing ammunition. Unlike firearms, however, federal law does not require a background check to prevent the illegal purchase of bullets." Wasserman Schultz press release

Wasserman Schultz continued, saying that “closing this absurd loophole will not by itself stop the next mass shooting tragedy. But this popular approach must be part of our larger strategy for ending gun violence.”

After the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Wasserman Schultz and her colleague, Rep. Ted Deutch (D), along with Senator Bill Nelson (D), have been three of the loudest congressional voices to come out in support of more stringent gun control measures.
