Nelson says Democrats could have "ZERO chance" of taking back US Senate

With the Florida legislative session having ended this past weekend, it is widely expected that Governor Rick Scott will enter the 2018 U.S. Senate sweepstakes against incumbent Democratic Senator Bill Nelson.

Sen. Nelson has been anticipating a Scott for Senate campaign by trying to mitigate the campaign fundraising avalanche that will surely follow a senatorial campaign announcement by fundraising aggressively using social media platforms to bolster his fundraising efforts.

Nelson’s latest email fundraising ask paints a doom-and-gloom picture, or “hard reality” for Americans if the elder senator “does not win in Florida.” If Nelson loses, the email states that Democrats will have "ZERO chance of taking back the Senate" in 2018.

Here is the email ask:

Friends – this is the hard reality. If Bill Nelson does not win in Florida, Democrats have ZERO chance of taking back the Senate this year.

But our fundraising this month is falling short of where it needs to be.And with groups backed by Mitch McConnell and the Koch brothers already spending BIG to help our opponent – their hand-picked candidate, Rick Scott – we couldn't have picked a worse time to start falling behind.

That's why we've set a goal of raising $7,500 by midnight tonight to help the campaign get back on track – but we're counting on you to help us get there.

If we miss this goal, we could lose this race. The ONLY way to ensure Bill Nelson wins in Florida and Democrats take back the Senate is if grassroots donors like you give EVERY dollar you can spare right now:

We're counting on you, but time is running out! Please, rush $5 or more right now – every dollar you can afford – to protect Florida's Senate seat and take back the Senate for Democrats!
