Congressional Democrats continue to call for a solution to the "DACA crisis" even after the deadline to end the program has come to pass. In talking to members from both sides of the political aisle in Congress, the effort to make substantive and permanent change to the immigration status of some 800,000 illegal immigrant children has been an utter bipartisan failure.
Republicans contend that Democrats are stalling efforts to push through DACA legislation because they are pressing for a broader, more expansive and blanketing pathway to citizenship for all illegal immigrants currently residing in the country.
Republicans have offered to legalized the parents of those DACA kids, but as long as they come out of the shadows. This doesn't appear to be good enough for Democrats, whowill tell you that the a "racist" President Trump and Republican leadership in the U.S. Congress is not doing enough to help all illegal immigrants, and blame the president for starting this crisis to begin with.
Florida Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D) says that there is "no excuse for congressional inaction" regarding DACA, appearing to all-but rest the blame for the DACA legislative meltdown squarely on the shoulders of the entire congress.
