Ward outraised GOP congressional field, top Democrat in race to replace DeSantis

With Rep. Ron DeSantis (R) leaving the U.S. Congress and actively campaigning to be Florida’s next governor later this year, who will fill those big Fox News-loving shoes of his?

The race to replace DeSantis in Florida’s 6th congressional district is off and running with Republican having the upper hand over Democrats due to the fact the seat leans in their favor.

Of the announced Republican congressional candidates seeking to replace DeSantis – Jimmy Johns, Michael Waltz, John Ward, and Fred Costello- Ward appears to be in the pole position with more money in his campaign coiffures.

Ward has just announced that he raised $755,878.13 through December 31, 2018, outpacing the rest of the GOP field, also surpassing leading Democratic congressional candidate Nancy Soderberg, who raised $544,636.08 during the 2018 fundraising cycle.

Again, money talks when it comes to political races.

Ward is pressing the Trump agenda and trying to paint Soderberg as a Hillary Clinton supporter/apologist.

“Our campaign is off to a very strong start for victory in November, and I couldn’t be more excited at the opportunity to serve and support the President’s agenda, an agenda that puts America first both domestically and overseas…The clear feedback we are getting from voters is telling us that they will enthusiastically support a candidate who is in lockstep with President Trump's agenda instead of my opponents who have either attacked President Trump or they favor policies that will kill millions of jobs through taxes, over-regulation, & illegal immigration."-John Ward

But just because Ward has raised the most money, don’t discount the rest of the field. Costello has name recognition in the district because of when he primary-challenged DeSantis in the 2016 presidential election cycle, and both Johns and Waltz have a respectable following in the district.
