The much-hyped Republican intelligence memo that alleges the FBI and Justice Department abused their power when requesting a FISA warrant on a former Trump campaign advisor, Carter Page, was finally released last Friday, leaving many congressional Democrats calling for President Trump to release the Democratic Party’s version of the GOP FISA memo.
Democrats have questioned the motive for the release of the memo, saying that this was a blatant Republican attempt of undermining the ongoing Robert Mueller special counsel investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign.
“I again urge you to support the release of ranking member Schiff’s memo so that the American people can make their own judgement on the facts of the case.” – Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D)
Florida Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D) asserts that the move to release the memo was a “deliberate & desperate effort” by the president and Republicans to derail the Mueller investigation.
Frankel’s colleague, Rep. Ted Deutch (D), went as far as to call the memo release as a “dangerous and partisan stunt” that was no less than “Putin-esque.”
And of course, there are the Republicans, who had stood their ground in support of the memo’s release. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) call the findings a"gross misuse of surveillance."
Here are the principle allegations made in the Republican intelligence memo. These are screengrabs of the actual declassified memo.
