Rep. Charlie Crist, the longtime Republican-turned-Independent-turned- Democratic congressman from St. Petersburg, has been tapped to serve as vice chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in the south.

The likeable Crist is one of those “Blue dog Democrats” who usually votes down the middle, and pride themselves with having centrists believes.

Crist’s centrist bark is loud, but he is barely a “Blue dog” according to GovTrack.

But how sound is that middle-of-the-road bark of Charlie’s?

In looking at Crist’s votes over the past two years (Trump’s first term), Crist has voted in-line with President Trump 33% of the time.

Crist opposed the president on repealing Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, opposing carbon tax, immigration reform, and banning abortion after 20 weeks (late term abortion).

Even the NARAL, the pro-Abortion organization that only supports candidates who back every aspect of their agenda, has come out in support of pro-Choice Charlie.

Remember back in 2010 when Crist emphatically defended his pro-Life bona fides and said he wasn’t “going to change his stripes?

"I am pro-life, I am pro-gun, and I am pro-family, and I am anti-tax and I always have been"-Charlie Crist

Regardless of his newly-found political positions, Crist is a good pick for the DCCC to spearhead their efforts to retain their majority in the House, but that will be a heavy lift considering the infighting within the Democratic Party between the old guard and the new Progressives.

Watch Charlie Crist make his pro-life, pro-gun case
