If you ask any state level or congressional Republican how their party is doing under President Donald Trump, your question will be answered with a resounding “we are winning” response.

They could be right.

Considering that the U.S. Senate just defeated the progressive “Green New Deal” bill, and President Trump aggressively pushing forward his “Make America Great” agenda that appears to be resonating with everyday Americans, the argument can be made that Republicans indeed are “winning.”

Republicans are now poised (they still are) on defeating Democrats on immigration reform.

While there is significant pushback when it comes to funding Trump’s border wall, Republicans are targeting ‘Sanctuary Cities,” hoping that Americans will back their initiative of making the issue about national security.

With all the news that’s coming out about how illegal immigrants have committed heinous crimes like murder on police officers, vehicular homicide, rape, and other violent crimes, it’s an easy play for Republicans to move against those local jurisdictions and municipalities that refuse to adhere to federal immigration laws.

Now conservative Republican Rep. Francis Rooney (R), the former Ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican City), has penned a bill that would prohibit anyone of these sanctuary jurisdictions from receiving federal aid.

Rooney’s bill also shields those local level law enforcement officers who help or cooperate federal officials in enforcing federal immigration laws.

“Sanctuary jurisdictions that harbor criminal illegal aliens are a clear violation of federal law and place citizens of their communities in danger. As I have stated on many occasions, we are a nation of laws – we cannot make exceptions based on feelings and emotion. If these cities choose to break federal law, they should not be rewarded with funding.”-Rep. Francis Rooney (R)

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has already made eradicating 'Sanctuary Cities' part of his administrations agenda.
