More Floridians are lining up behind Senators Marco Rubio (R) and Rick Scott (R) with their support of President Donald Trump's implementing of the 1996 Clinton-era Helms-Burton Libertad Act.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) cheered Trump's holding of the "Cuban regime" accountable for their investment and actions that have supported the Nicolas Maduro government in Venezuela,

Cuba has been supporting Marxist dictatorships for decades, the case of the Maduro regime in Venezuela is but one example," said DeSantis.

The Helms-Burton Act allows Americans to file federal lawsuits against 200 Cuban entities that have already been sanction by the U.S. government, not against those foreign companies that have invested in Castro's Cuba.

DeSantis previously stated that Cuba was a "cancer that leads to a lot of the problems that we see in Latin America," adding that allowing legal action against that country was "in the national security interest" of the U.S.
