Peace in the Middle East, especially in the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, is always a fluid and fleeting proposition.

The “protests” that have been occurring after President Trump moved the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem have now been followed up by rocket and mortar attacks from Islamist elements (Hamas) inside of the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s “Iron Dome” defense apparatus has intercepted many of the projectiles launched from Palestinian territory, but several have made it through the IDF defenses, including one that exploded inside of a Kindergarten.

Support for Israel to counter Palestinian attacks is bipartisan in nature, as both Republican and Democratic lawmakers in Washington support Israeli efforts to defend themselves from such attacks.

Florida Congressman Alcee Hastings (D) has been very vocal about his support for Israel to defend itself against its enemies.

Hastings took out his frustration of the attacks on Twitter, saying that “No other country in the world would be expected to put up with such violence. Israel has the right to protect its citizens from harm.”
