The Trump Administration’s decision to rotate U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) to the southwest border with Mexico for 90 days has drawn the opposition of Democratic Rep. Stephanie Murphy.
Murphy expressed her concern with the move on her social media network, posting that she would be “pushing hard to prevent” any future rotations of airport border security personnel to the U.S.-Mexico border region.
"I met this evening with senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials to discuss the agency’s troubling decision to transfer officers from Orlando International Airport (OIA) (sic) to the southwest border for 90 days. I received clarification that it is four officers, not 10—which is better, but still concerning. I also confirmed that, once this initial 90-day rotation ends, CBP will evaluate whether to temporarily transfer a second group of officers from OIA to the southwest border. I will be pushing hard to prevent this result—because these officers are needed at OIA to protect our security and keep our economy moving."-Rep. Stephanie Murphy via Facebook
